What is the setup of the pool?

The pool is running on a purpose-built bare-metal server connected to a dedicated 500Mb symmetric fibre connection in the UK, fully decentralised from any cloud provider or data center. The specification of the server is as follows:

  • Ubuntu 18.04 x64
  • AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6GHz CPU (6 Cores / 12 Threads)
  • Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3000 RAM
  • Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500 GB M.2-2280 NVMe SSD

Who operates the pool?

I am a Software Engineering professional with over 15 years industry experience of designing and developing enterprise software solutions. I now work in Engineering Management, leading a number of teams creating software products for banks and other financial institutions throughout the world.

Why Cardano?

I first became aware of Cardano in September 2017, prior to it being available on any exchanges. After consuming all the documentation I could find and becoming excited about the potential for the project, I purchased a substantial holding of Ada on the evening it went live on Bittrex.

I then enjoyed the ride during the subsequent bull run up to the ATH of around $1.30, whilst also being very active in the Cardano community (mainly on the Telegram groups). I did not sell a single Ada during this time, or since, as I have a long term belief in where the project is headed.

In 2018 I stepped away slightly from the Cardano community, keeping an eye on things via Reddit and Charles’ AMAs. The launch of the Incentivized Testnet has now rekindled my interest and focus, and I am once again active in the Telegram groups and hugely enjoying taking an active part in the network by running a stake pool.

Cardano has been a sleeping giant for the last couple of years, but in 2020 with the launch of Shelley to the mainnet, the beast will be unleashed. It is an incredibly exciting time to be involved in the project.
